Desert Star (Monoptilon belliodes) is a tiny, easily overlooked (and stepped on) low growing flower that blooms profusely during wet winters in Southern California Deserts. About the size of a dime, these flowers bloom on plants that grow low to the ground, which is why they are easily trampled by the desert visitor who is not vigilantly looking.
